A downloadable game

Beat, loot, repeat is a top-down roguelite ARPG focused on character classes, spells and builds.

Currently, it features a flexible spell/passive/gear system, three procedurally-generated areas, several reward systems and several types of enemies, scaling as you progress.

Playable classes

You can currently play as one of the two classes: the Blademaster, or the Witch. A third class is currently in the works. There shall be 8+ playable classes on release.

Unique progression system

As you play the game, you will find various spells, passives and pieces of gear. Whenever you find a duplicate - rejoice! You're almost ready to upgrade! The special slots below your inventory will take 3 identical spells, passives or pieces of gear, and reward you with a higher-tier version!

Spells, Passives, and Gear; or How Builds Are Born

Making builds is fun. In roguelites with random loot, it's not just fun, but is often random and challenging... Which can be fun in itself. This is how builds come together in Beat, Loot, Repeat:

1) Spells. Spells are the basics of your character, the abilities you are able to use. Equip them on your action bar in the bottom of the screen. You gain spells by defeating enemies, or in stores and other various events. Spells can deal damage(which scales with your Dex, Int or Str; each spell scales differently), empower you, weaken your enemies, generate resource, provide mobility - everything you would normally expect.

2) Passives. Passives are effects permanently active on your character, as long as you have them equipped. You have 4 round-shaped slots for your passives in your inventory. A number of passives are shared between classes, these are fairly basic: extra damage, movement speed, defense and so on.  Others are unique to the class you are playing, and they tend to be more interesting: granting a chance to retaliate when hit, reducing attack speed while increasing damage, granting a chance for an attack to hit multiple times and so on.

3) Gear. Gear is gamechanging. Getting a good piece can define the entirety of your current run. First of all, it provides you with some health and main stat(Dex, Int or Str). Furthermore, it has up to two Passives on it. And, most important of all.. Starting from Tier 3(Blue quality), it provides Spell Mods.

3.1) Spell Mods. These are various effects which change and empower your Spells in various ways.  For example, an attack of yours can now be charged to deal up to 500% of its damage, or a projectile increases with size based off the amount of resource spent on it, or using the same attack multiple times in a row empowers it... And so on.

Combining these elements as you go, each run you attempt will have you playing a different variation of the chosen class.

This is super-pre-alpha.

The game as is is pretty stable, you shouldn't be getting any errors and such. If you will - tell me, this will help a lot.

That said,  it is currently reeeally bare-bones. The systems are there, but haven't yet been fully built and aligned into a great experience. There are no sound effects, environments are poorly drawn by me, and enemy placeholder sprites are shamelessly borrowed from an old game I love but shall not name.

The good news is - I'm looking for team members! If you can do pixel graphics, visual effects, music/sound design - I would love to work with you on this project.

Besides that, if you have a thing or are willing to try designing classes, monsters, or calculating balance - that, too, could be extremely helpful. There's a lot to do to make this into a great game, and currently just me to make it happen, so any potential team members are highly appreciated!

THERE'S NO TUTORIAL, SO READ THIS:

WASD to move

Q to open inventory

Your skills on the action bar at the bottom are bound to Left mouse, Right mouse,  1, 2, 3, 4. I know, WASD +1234 is a bad idea, so it will be changed.

Monster difficulty: white(easiest), red(mid), purple(difficult).

Classes currently start at level 8 to give you a quick start!

I'm happy to hear any feedback!
